Efficient and Robust for Compact Machines

The Hatz three- and four-cylinder diesel engines of the H-Series impress with their high torque at low RPMs, class-leading efficiency, and compact design. The H-Series engines are equipped with two valves per cylinder. This ensures high efficiency, mechanical robustness, and functional simplicity. This engine design guarantees the typically long service life of the H-Series. The new generation of compact and efficient industrial engines focuses on downsizing with common-rail technology and turbocharging.

Downsizing Approach Optimizes Weight and Consumption

The development of the H-Series engines followed a groundbreaking downsizing approach. The primary goals were to reduce size and weight while maintaining high performance and low emissions. The results are compelling: Weight and consumption values are lower than those of any other engine in this class. This could be achieved, among other factors, thanks to the iHACS technology (intelligent Hatz Advanced Combustion Strategy) with its sophisticated combustion chamber geometry, minimised friction, and a maximum charge air pressure of 1.7 bar.

Optimal Combustion Strategy
for Minimal Emissions

The exhaust gas recirculation system has been further developed by Hatz engineers to improve emissions. A pre-cooling section for the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) significantly reduces the exhaust gas temperature before the EGR valve, thus protecting it from thermal damage and fouling. Additionally, an optimized EGR mixing nozzle is used. It evenly distributes recirculated exhaust gases and fresh combustion air to all cylinders.

In conjunction with the common-rail system, this solution ensures excellent exhaust gas quality, allowing the TIC models of the H-Series to be equipped only with a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and to forgo the additional installation of a particulate filter. Yet the engines still significantly exceed the emission limits of EPA Tier 4 final and EU Stage V.

The hydraulic valve clearance compensation and the large-sized filters of the H-Series result in extended maintenance intervals of 500 hours. Additionally, the engine features a sensory engine protection system that shuts down the engine in case of emergency to avoid major damage. The robust design and careful selection of all components ensure that the engine meets the most demanding applications.

The future-proofing and environmental compatibility of all Hatz engines is reflected in the gradual certification for emissions-neutral or low-emission biodiesel fuels such as HVO. We are working to release the entire drive portfolio for these future-proof and environmentally friendly fuels. Machine manufacturers and operators using Hatz engines can be assured that they are always using the most modern and robust engine technology.
